* Akemi comes in to the small room which was obviously designed for small meetings between geisha and thier clients, she takes a seat at the low table and waits for zarame to sit

He walks in silently and looks around the small room warily and takes a seat slowly his hands on his lap while leaning his blade against the table.

*Akemi waches as zarame sits and then ducks her head as fresh tears stain her face*
Dear one i am sorry for this, but my mistress has been asked by someone above her... she felt as i know you i should be the.. the one to ask it of you
*she pauses for a moment and looks up, her face judging zarame's mood, she then looks down again*
my mistress requires.. that you carry the mark of the clan
*she puts her face into her hands, and after a few short seconds removes them and looks at zarame*
She says it's to keep you tied to the clan, so you will not wonder... i am sorry Zarame, this should happen to a lowly slave not someone like you... someone like myself
* she pulls back the sleeve of her kimono to reveal a black Kanga on the inside of her left wrist *
it only hurts at first dear one, but it's so the clan can never acuse you of betraying them or pull a viel over they're eyes...
*she pauses and waits for zarame'sanswer*

Zarame stands and looks downa t Akemi smiling truly for the first time in years.
''Akemi...you have nothing to cry about, I'm not angry at you...and I never will be''
He bends and lifts her up to a standing posistion facing him and the smile dissapears.
''I cannot wander as my ties to master Zetsume shall keep me within the clan, and I have no betrayal in my mind...I tell the truth and decieving is one thing I promise not to do''
He smiles once more...
''Oh and Akemi....you are not a slave, in my eyes you 'rank' above me, it is I who am the slave..the servant.....''
He looks down and clenches his fist slightly looking at the skin on his wrist...
''I don't like the idea of marking me in such a way....but...if I must''

*Akemi takes zarames arm and gently strokes the skin on his wrist, asense of calm settles over the room, but tears still fall from Akemi's stormy grey eyes, she then looks at his face and places a warming hand upon it*
My Mistress say that the.. *she stutters* th... the marking will take place at the gathering of nations
*she takes both his hands and holds them tightly*
i'm so sorry... it's not fair, you haven't been here long and they treat you so... it's wrong
*tears fall harder down her face and then she turns and kneels not wanting to look at zarame for shame*

Zarame looks down at the hand on his wrist and stays silent, however when Akemi's hand his placed on his face he blushes uncontrollably and looks down to the side.
''It is quite unavoidable... I will comply''.
He watches as Akemi turns away. He kneels down in front of her removing his outer jacket and uses the sleeves to wipe her tears away and smiles looking at her.
''I have been a servant since I was 6...and after all this time...well..nothing can suprise me''.
He decides to make a bold statement.
''The Clan cannot harm me in any way...that they know of... physical pain will not end me''.

*she looks straight at zarame, her deep grey eyes filled with tears and full of sorrow, she takes his wrist againg and holds it between them*
i... *sigh* you are brave... but if you give it a chace, the clan will break you, it's in it's nature
*she places her hand on top of his*

He looks down at her hand on top of his and blushes, raising his head to look at her face.
''I will Akemi....even if the clan does break me, maybe the thoughts of you...will heal me''
He smiles a fake smile, trying to convince her all would be ok.

A pair of glowing eyes appear behind Zarame
"Even the One, Illharess MomoSan herself, bore the mark of the Clan with pride. You are young, and strong, you will serve the Clan with honour, you will not break"
the HandMaiden places her hand on Zarame's shoulder, pulses of warmth emanate from her hand. She removes her hand and fades back into the shadows.

*for the first time Akemi blushs, a pale pink like flower blossum dusts her cheeks as she smiles and looks down, her eyes goinga vivid baby blue, but as the handmaiden talks she quickly lets go of her hand and stands suddenly very formal*

As he feels the handmaidens hand touch his shoulder he looks back at her slowly until she dissapears, and he too stands slowly and formally.
